No Justice for Caylee Anthony

Most people know that there was no justice found for Caylee Anthony on July 5, 2011 when 12 jurors marched into the courtroom and declared Casey Anthony ‘Not Guilty’ of any of the charges against her in the death of Caylee Anthony. There was never such a silence on the cable news channel broadcasting the trial live as there was that day as the hosts tried to find words to express their shock and sadness in the verdict and the lack of justice for Caylee Anthony

One day later some jurors are already setting a fee to speak to reporters and others do not want to be found. What really happened in that jury room may be something we will never know. Why jurors refused to be interviewed immediately after being dismissed but are putting a price tag on their stories now is fairly obvious, albeit sickening. There was no justice for Caylee Anthony and no explanation.

Caylee Anthony was a beautiful child. All photos and videos show her to be bright with a charming personality. It was apparent that anyone who knew her loved her. Well, almost everyone. She had such a bright future that was taken away. Her death was so senseless and tragic that Caylee Anthony caught the hearts of America and we all hoped for a better conclusion to such a sad story.

Caylee's Law

Parts of the crime against Caylee Anthony will never be known now but there are too many lessons that need to be learned from this case and the outcome. A petition has been started to ask Congress and President Obama in enact Caylee’s Law.(click the link to sign) This law will make it a felony not to report a missing child or the death of a child to authorities within an hour of discovery.

If Caylee’s Law had been in place before this trial, the defendant would have been convicted of that crime. That may have provided some measure of justice for Caylee Anthony. As it stands, the petition to have Caylee’s Law passed will help prevent something like this from happening again. In addition to the evidence that was lost during the 31 days Caylee Anthony was not reported missing, Caylee’s law would have prevented the time, energy and expense involved in looking for a child that was never actually missing; according to the defendant.

Caylee Anthony will forever live in the memories of her loved ones and all those who searched tirelessly for her. For all the people who prayed for her safe return and wept when she was found.
