How Jezebel Sauce Was Named
I decided to try to find out what about this sauce would give it the name Jezebel and what I found was that Jezebel was a princess in Phoenicia in the 9th century BC. Her marriage to King Ahab was intended to solidify the political alliance of the northern kingdom of Israel. According to some accounts, Jezebel was the power behind the throne.
Jezebel, in modern times, tends to mean a woman of questionable virtue. That meaning stems from the accounts that Jezebel was dressed in her finery complete with makeup and jewelry during a bloody coup where her court officials were incited to throw her out a window to her death.
Jezebel brought a new rich flavor to the kingdom and an indulgence, nearly decadence from an aristocratic lifestyle in a time when most of the region was struggling to survive Jezebel Sauce adds a sweet and spicy taste to meat or a snack that brings out a richer flavor.
Jezebel Sauce is easy to make but tastes like it would be difficult to make. It’s sweet and spicy. It’s spreadable with small chunks of pineapple. Maybe it’s just the contradiction and the richness that Jezebel Sauce adds to a meal that earned the name.

Thanks, I just made some today. It's definitely spicy. The sweet and spicy flavors seem to blend better after they are together for awhile.
I am a big fan of horseradish. Can't wait to try this one out.
This is really good. My mother-in-law used to always serve it with crackers and cream cheese on New Year's Day. I guess that was just her tradition, but one we all looked forward to.
ktrapp, that's a great idea. I like finding the older recipes and reviving them.
